- Hanging with consistent reveal on all three sides, so the gap reads as intentional rather than as a fit.
- Hardware set to the door’s weight and use, with strike and latch aligned rather than forced.
- Casing scribed to the wall where the wall is not flat, instead of caulked over a gap.
- Operation checked through a full swing under its own weight, not only at the closed position.

What to know before work begins
Plumbing, electrical, gas and HVACWhen a project includes work that requires a licensed trade, the appropriate specialist is engaged for that part of the scope.
Other limits
- An opening out of square by more than the door can absorb needs the opening corrected, not the door forced.
- Fire-rated and egress doors have requirements that come before appearance.
- A door is not hung in an opening that has moved beyond adjustment. Where the framing is what is out, that is reported and priced separately rather than absorbed into a fit that will bind again.
- The work is carried through to the agreed result or to what the installation requires to operate correctly - if that means returning to adjust after the building settles, that is stated at the outset rather than treated as a complaint.
