- Setting out from the room’s proportions and sightlines, so the layout lands on features rather than cutting through them.
- Substrate checked for flatness and soundness across the whole panel area before any layout is marked.
- Deciding fixing method for the wall type, since board, plaster and masonry each take a different approach.
- Joints and miters cut for the material’s movement, not only for the first day’s appearance.
- Openings, switches and outlets planned into the layout before the first piece is fixed.
- Preparing the surface and panel joints for the specified painted or stained finish.

What to know before work begins
Plumbing, electrical, gas and HVACWhen a project includes work that requires a licensed trade, the appropriate specialist is engaged for that part of the scope.
Other limits
- A pattern set out from one corner will look wrong at the other. Layout is agreed before installation, not during it.
- Outlets and switches within a panel layout may need adjusting.
- Paneling is not fixed over a wall with an unresolved moisture or movement problem. Concealing the cause makes the diagnosis harder and the eventual repair larger.
- Where the customer’s preferred layout would put a joint or a cut in a position that will fail or read badly, that is said. If it cannot be resolved, the work is not taken on.

Who supplies each material is agreed for the project and recorded in the written estimate. We confirm purchasing responsibilities before work begins.
