Typical scope
- Testing adhesion on the existing finish before confirming that the cabinetry can be painted.
- Identifying the substrate, since thermofoil, laminate and melamine each behave differently from wood and some cannot be coated at all.
- Degreasing kitchen cabinetry properly, because cooking residue defeats primer more often than poor paint does.
- Doors and drawer fronts removed, labeled and finished off the cabinet box where access allows it.
- A coating system chosen for handling and cleaning rather than for appearance alone.
- Cure time stated separately from dry time, since cabinetry is handled constantly and marks before it has hardened.

Other limits
- A substrate that will not hold a coating is not coated. Where the adhesion test fails, the honest answer is refacing or replacement, and the painting is declined.
- Cabinetry returns to full use after the coating has cured, which takes longer than surface drying. We state that timing before work begins.
