- Flatness assessment against the manufacturer’s tolerance for the specific product, which varies more between brands than most people expect.
- Underlayment chosen for the substrate and the acoustic requirement, including any vapor requirement over concrete.
- Expansion gaps maintained at every perimeter and vertical obstruction, and concealed rather than filled.
- Transitions and thresholds detailed where the plank meets another covering or continues into a doorway.
- Layout planned so the first and last rows are of usable width and the pattern does not repeat visibly.

What to know before work begins
Plumbing, electrical, gas and HVACWhen a project includes work that requires a licensed trade, the appropriate specialist is engaged for that part of the scope.
Other limits
- Manufacturer flatness tolerance is not optional. Installing outside it voids the warranty and the joints will separate.
- These products need acclimation before installation; a same-day delivery and install is not a schedule we will agree to.
- Plank is not laid tight to walls or fixed to the substrate to close a gap. It is a floating floor and removing its room to move is what makes joints peak and separate later.
- Where the subfloor is outside tolerance, leveling is quoted as separate work first. Installing over it would transfer the defect to the joints within a season.

Who supplies each material is agreed for the project and recorded in the written estimate. We confirm purchasing responsibilities before work begins.
