The Village of Scottsville has its own Code Enforcement Officer and Building Inspector. The Village page provides building, plumbing, and electrical permit information. That page also warns that work on a home in the Rochester Street Historic District may require a certificate of appropriateness. Properties outside the Village are handled through the Town of Wheatland Building Department. The department issues permits, performs inspections, and administers code enforcement. Begin with the parcel boundary. A Scottsville historic-district project needs an early exterior-scope check. Identify changes to windows, doors, porches, siding, roofing, and additions. Ask the Village which items require commission review. For Wheatland properties, confirm the permit and inspection list directly with the Town.
