Hamlin

Hamlin administers building permits and a local coastal-erosion program. Lake Ontario coastal zones can add site and construction requirements to otherwise ordinary renovation work.

Rochester area

What is specific to here.

Hamlin’s Building Inspector administers permits and code enforcement. The town also administers a coastal-erosion management program. Its flood-damage code contains separate construction provisions for coastal high-hazard zones and coastal A zones. Those provisions are address-specific. They matter most when work touches a foundation, enclosure, addition, exterior stair, or site grade. A shoreline-area project may need elevation and flood-zone information before the building design can be completed. Start by asking the Building Inspector whether the parcel falls in a mapped coastal or flood area. Describe any excavation and foundation work. Include changes to enclosed space below the main occupied floor. Interior finish work on an unaffected parcel may follow a simpler permit path. The public page should avoid implying that coastal rules apply across the entire town.

How coverage actually works.

Confirmed per addressWe work across Rochester and the surrounding area, approximately up to twenty miles. That is a description of where we usually travel, not a boundary drawn on a map, so the answer for any particular property comes from the address rather than from the town name. Send us the address with your request and we will confirm it before anything is scheduled.
